Karen May Wells

Jewellery

Although a blade of grass is a simple shape alone, the way that multiple blades entwine has inspired Karen to create a range of jewellery and containers. Other multiples of simple natural forms, such as feathers and blossom have provided more inspiration. The pieces she makes are given an ethereal, dreamlike quality by the use of transparent resin and acrylic. Karen also exploits the optical effects found in plastic, contrasting textured, semi opaque surfaces with the clear and reflecting. Pieces often contain cubic zirconia and other stones, in a way that imitates seeds. These stones are loose inside the piece, inviting touch and interaction.
Karen is driven by a desire to create beautiful, sensitive items that can be enjoyed by everyone.
